These pigtail adapters are typically used for 30A campers with the RV standard NEMA TT-30 plug to connect to a NEMA 5-15 standard household receptacle. The female connector is designed with a flat design with grip wings.

It securely fits into a truck's 7 way towing socket and allows a  trailer that is using a 4 flat option to connect. When not in use the cap can be applied to the 4 flat connector to protect it from the elements when not in use.
